New Health Humanities Initiative: CoVid-19: Critical/Creative Studies in Music, Image, and Text

As the outlook surrounding the crisis continues to worsen in the US and around the world, the project carries with it a critical commitment to supporting artists and theorists developing new work and thought responding to the pandemic in real time.

Registration in advance is required, here

Beginning with a virtual seminar series, on Thursday, July 9, at 4pm CDT/9pm UTC, the initiative welcomes the Chicago-based composer, writer, and performer Corey Smith.

For the event, Smith will present CORNER — a performance lecture about the sounds of shelter-in-place, mechanical ventilators, and the work of 20th-century hymn writer, Ina Duley Ogdon. A conversation will follow the live performance.
